Friends: everything we know about the special that will reunite the cast on HBO Max

There is less and less time for Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey to be together again in the Friends special.

Friends came out 27 years ago and the world was never the same again, and neither were television comedies.

Created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane, the series followed the lives, adventures, relationships, and dramas of 6 friends living in fast-paced New York City, where they learned to become adults and deal with relationships, jobs, debt, and even the cheesecake that fell to the ground and should not be wasted.

Since its first season, Friends (which is also proven to reduce stress) became a global phenomenon, the world did not tire of watching Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry spend hours talking on the Central Perk couch, hanging out in their apartments, and dealing with everyday issues that everyone could connect with, and almost 3 decades later, the obsession hasn’t stopped.

With Friends , aka the best series in history, something interesting happened, the new generations did not forget or ignore it, but began to see it and feel the same emotion as the fans who could see it in its original broadcast on television, and little little by little they also joined the request to bring the 6 friends back.

Friends and their special reunion

The first thing that began to circulate was the rumor that a film was being worked on that would bring together the classic characters, but later it was proven that this was never going to happen, so HBO Max decided to do something good for everyone and give it to Friends a second life.

How? Well, with a special meeting that was announced more than a year ago and they finally finished filming. The Friends special will mark the first time Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Scwhimmer are on screen together after the series’ dramatic finale in 2004.

When does the Friends special premiere?

The Covid-19 he prevented the special could reach the platform in May 2020, which was the original plan, but a few days ago the official account Friends revealed that the meeting had already been filmed, which means that it is closer of its premiere.

HBO Max has not yet confirmed when that premiere will be, but at least we know that they are already finished and that we could see the result this year. HBO Max arrives in Mexico in the summer, so the premiere may be scheduled for that time.

How can you see it?

To be able to see the special, you will have to have a subscription to HBO Max , where you can also see all the seasons of the original series. The special opens on May 27, which means that it will be before the date on which the platform opens in Mexico.

Who are coming back?

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry were confirmed last year, along with creators Crane and Kauffman , but it is unknown if only they will appear or if we will be able to see other iconic characters from the series, like Gunther, Janice or Ross and Monica’s parents.

The special guests:

In addition to the original cast, the list of special guests was revealed, including   BTS, Lady Gaga, David Beckham, Justin Bieber, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon. , Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon, and Malala Yousafzai.

How will the meeting be?

This is an unscripted special , which means that it will not be like a chapter in the series, but rather it will be a kind of talk show in which the actors and creators share anecdotes, stories and memories of their time working on Friends.

Schwimmer confirmed that in an interview on The Graham Norton Show, but scoffed that “there is a section that I don’t want to reveal where we all read something.” Additionally, the special will feature iconic accessories and set pieces along with some behind-the-scenes footage from the series.
