Here is the first info on The Last Of Us series
Adapted from the hit video games The Last Of Us, the HBO series will star Pedro Pascal as Joel & Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
The famous video game license The Last Of Us will have the right to an adaptation in the form of a series, produced and broadcast by HBO . The cast, officially announced a few weeks ago, will consist of Pedro Pascal, recently dubbed in the series The Mandalorian , in the role of Joel and Bella Ramsey, known for her role of Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones , in that of ‘Ellie, a 14-year-old. Interviewed by our colleagues at IGN , Neil Druckmann, the creator of the game and executive producer of the series, gave new details on the history and the unfolding of the series during the SXSW 2021 festival. Season 1 will adapt the first gameof the license but will see certain episodes “deviate considerably” from the events that the player may have played. For himself and Craig Mazin (showrunner of the series), “the philosophical foundations of the story” are essential and much more important than “the superficial things, like whether [such character] should wear the same plaid shirt or the same red shirt? [These details] may or may not be there. “However,“ it’s much less important […] than knowing the hearts of these people and the importance of this trip, ”he said.
While it is obvious that Druckmann cannot reveal much more information, he explains that players will recognize certain dialogues of the game in the series, a detail which amuses the creator: “some things are very close. It’s funny to see my in-game dialogue in HBO storylines. And sometimes they diverge a lot for a better effect, because we’re dealing with a different medium [series vs. video game].”
Neil Druckmann therefore makes a point of honor that the series is faithful to the game while allowing himself a few gaps to dive a little more into the hearts of the characters. On this momentum, he claims that HBO prompted them to move away from the “hardcore” side to “focus more on story and character development.” A dynamic that appeals to the creator very much: “Some of my favorite episodes at the moment are very different from the story, and I can’t wait for people to see them.” Attention, if the series is also faithful to the story, it will necessarily remain violent, and on this point Neil Druckmann allowed himself a small spoiler: ”I saw the first prosthesis test for the Clicker [infected human] and It’s awesome. It’s so cool to see things come to fruition physically. ”
The series The Last Of Us has no release date. It will be available on HBO in the United States and most certainly on OCS in France.
