Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser and Spielberg could be the big winners of the ceremony.

The 2023 Oscars are just around the corner, and that means we’ll soon be meeting a new group of actors, directors, and films that will now carry the “Oscar winner” tag before their name.

The winners of these awards are chosen by the  Members of the Academy, who vote to select those who, in their opinion, represent the best of the cinema of the previous year, but they cannot choose anyone, they must choose among the few names that appear in each category of the nominees list , which this time includes legends like  Steven Spielberg, Cate Blanchett and Angela Bassett, who made history by becoming the first Marvel actress to be nominated for an Oscar.

The  Academy Awards are considered the highest honor in film and just being nominated is already a great achievement although everyone says they don’t make movies to receive awards, deep down everyone wants to win and be recognized. For the Oscars 2023, there are already some favorites.

Everything Everywhere All At Once has been the big surprise at the awards, the film is nominated for 11 Oscars and has already won at the Critic’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, where its protagonists and directors have been recognized. It is a film that has in its favor the fact that it is a kind of different superhero story, where it also gives visibility to the struggle of migrant families to survive, find their home and protect their identity and culture.

The Fablemans is another movie that has a lot going for it, it’s directed by Steven Spielberg, it’s a Sámi biographical story, and it’s also a love letter to cinema and movies, and the Academy loves all of that.

If it were up to Martin Scorsese,  Tár would probably be the winner. The film is a work of art that talks about power, vulnerability and the need to transcend, where Cate Blanchett gives a stellar performance.

Another strong contender is  Colin  Farrell , who took home the best actor award at the Golden Globes for  The Banshees of Inisherin. Farrell also has many nominations for this film where he works again with Martin McDonagh, playing a man who discovers that his best friend no longer wants him in his life and decides to find out why and if there is a way to save their relationship.
