Polaris | Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara will be in new Lynne Ramsay film

Production does not yet have a release date

During a visit to the Valencia International Film Festival, director Lynne Ramsay of We Need to Talk About Kevin announced that her new feature, Polaris, will be starring a real-life couple: Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Rooney Mara (Carol) [via IndieWire].

More information about the film has yet to be revealed, apart from the couple’s casting.

“He’s crazy, but he’s the best actor I’ve ever met. Everything he does on set has a reason,” Ramsay said at the festival. “It’s a lot harder when you have an original idea like that, but it’s impossible not to get excited when you’re preparing a movie with Joaquin.”

Married in real life and with a son, the baby River, named after the late actor River Phoenix, brother of Joaquin, the duo has acted together in Her, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot and Maria Madalena .

Polaris has no debut forecast yet.
