The actress who plays Alicent Hightower, Emily Carey, has recalled her initial concern about filming a sex scene alongside Paddy Considine, King Viserys Targaryen. In the fourth episode of ‘The house of the dragon’, in addition to the already famous scene of incestuous sex between Targaryen’s uncle and niece, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and her sick husband is intimate under the sheets, despite the expression Alicent’s awkward at all times. The former ‘Casualty’ actress also highlighted the intimacy coordinator’s ability to make Carey “not feel rejected or comfortable.”
When we got to the rehearsal room, no matter who was in which scenes, there was open dialogue about, “Look, this is how we approach this on the show. This is how it’s going to be different from the original. This is what This is what we want to talk about. This is what we want to present. This is how we want viewers to see the women on our show,” Carey added.
I think the open conversation is very important, it made us feel incredibly safe and secure in the hands of showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.
‘The house of the dragon’ continues its weekly broadcast every Sunday on HBO Max, and has already confirmed a second season.
