After her Golden Globes victory, Anya Taylor-Joy sparked the interest of reporters who wanted more information on the sequel to “The Queen Gambit”.
Did you like The Queen Gambit? Beth Harmon’s Anya Taylor-Joy has driven many fans of the Netflix series, The Queen Gambit, crazy. Launched last October, the mini-series follows the journey from childhood to adulthood of Beth Harmon, an orphan who must face her demons. Over the course of the episodes, we discover that the young girl has a gift for chess that will push her to become the best player of all time.
Adapted from the novel The Queen’s Gambit by Walter Tevis, the series quickly became a phenomenon and helped spotlight the incredible performance of Anya Taylor-Joy. The actress has conquered the whole world with her interpretation hailed at the Golden Globes, on February 28, where she was crowned best actress in a mini-series. Journalists took advantage of the ceremony to glean some information on season 2 of The Queen Gambit
“Maybe [there will be a season 2, editor’s note], began the actress. Not to disappoint anyone, but we didn’t think about it at all. The series has always been constructed as a passage from the young tree to the adult tree. We see her grow up and we leave her serene. So we were really genuinely surprised when people asked if there would be a season 2. […]
That being said, I love the whole team that worked on this project, and I would jump at the chance to work with them again. ” The series also won the award for best mini-series at the Golden Globes. Unfortunately, fans may be disappointed because season 2 of The Queen Gambit is not intended as it has been adapted from a novel. The latter not having a sequel, it is unlikely that Netflix will extend this mini-series. It’s always better to stay on a high note with Beth Harmon’s triumph at the end of the series.
