Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, the villain of Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Will the actor return to play once again the one who to date is still one of the most beloved villains in the superhero genre? We hope so

In almost twenty years since Spider-Man arrived at the cinema, several villains have paraded on screen to challenge Peter Parker and the truth is that Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin remains the favorite of many.

Now, with the recent rumor that the actor would return to bring his iconic character to life in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans of the arachnid and the MCU await a confirmation from Marvel Studios to see the return of one of the most supervillains. memorable in the history of the superhero genre.

The third installment of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures of the Spider-Man Tom Holland is shaping up to be quite different from what fans expected after seeing how it ended Spider-Man: Far From Home. After Mysterio revealed the secret identity of the Friendly Neighbor, the MCU’s Spider-Man 3 goes in a surprising direction with the long-awaited confirmation of the multiverse, of which so much is rumored and that would now feature the arrival of the Green Goblin.

The expectation that Spider-Man: No Way Home will explore the multiverse only increases with time, and what were once teasing about the paths that this film could explore, today seem like probabilities very close to being realized.

Of all those theories about what we will see in Spider-Man 3, the ones that involve the arrival of old characters are the ones that have caused the most stir.

We were first pleasantly surprised with the confirmation that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange in this film, even earlier than in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Additionally, there are many reports suggesting the presence of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, as well as several of their villains, and possibly even Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively.

Adding to the vast array of rumors about the cast of Spider-Man 3 is finally the arrival of Willem Dafoe repeating as Norman Osborn , AKA the Green Goblin , whom he played in Sam Raimi’s much-loved Spider-Man trilogy .

The confirmation of the Sinister Six?

The Green Goblin was the main villain of Spider-Man in his spectacular big screen debut and had cameos in both sequels after dying in the first film. Now it is rumored that his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home will be spectacular because he will return in an important way.

Jeff Sneider of the Collider portal revealed in his podcast The Sneider Cut that he heard that the Green Goblin is the main villain of Spider-Man 3 and is “pretty sure” that this information is accurate.

Senider went on to say that Dafoe will be ” one of the six villains in the movie “ and the movie’s title is a reference to villains from other dimensions who have no way of finding their way home. Of course, he asked his followers to take this with great caution, as it is well known that Marvel likes to release rumors on purpose to divert the attention of fans.

If this information is accurate and the Green Goblin returns as the main villain of Spider-Man: No Way Home , it will be fascinating to see exactly what role he plays in the future of the Spyderverse and its relationship with the MCU .

The Green Goblin of Willem Dafoe died after his glider impaled him, so it is unclear how will we get him back. In addition, we must not rule out that there is a possibility that the Green Goblin we know is not the same one that appears in Spider-Man 3. Alfred Molina confirmed that he will return with the same version of his beloved Doctor Octopus, however, Marvel could take a different approach with the Green Goblin so it would not be unusual for them to alter parts of his story.

The presence of the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home could also be part of the plans that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have for the future of the franchise, specifically for the arrival of the Sinister Six at some point in this film. .

Sony Pictures has tried to develop a Sinister Six movie for years without success, but its alliance with Marvel Studios could finally fulfill its great desire.

Depending on how Spider-Man: No Way Home approaches the villain’s story, it’s possible that Dafoe could continue to play the character in future MCU movies after making his long-awaited return. Hopefully, all these rumors about who’s and who’s not in Spider-Man: No Way Home will be a little clearer once their first trailer hits.
